Good Morning

7 All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. 8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Verses 7 and 8 form an interlude; they are directed to the readers who must make a choice whether they will be part of the victorious ones who will inherit all these blessings (Revelation 21:7) or the cowards who turn away from God and face their doom (Revelation 21:8). Because they stubbornly refused to drink from the water of life and receive salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ, their doom will be the second death—the lake of fire. The “first death” is physical death. But all the dead will be raised to be judged, and those who are sent away to punishment will face the “second death,” which is spiritual.
John described the beast’s followers. This list is not meant to be exhaustive, but is representative of all sin and rebellion against God. Those who refuse to believe, no matter how good or moral they are, will join those whose sins are more blatant, as recorded in this list. All unbelievers will face the same punishment. This is a warning to those who may be Christians in name only to be certain of their salvation. Which will they choose? The water of life, or the fire of the second death? Those who can endure the testing of evil and remain faithful will be rewarded by God. Amen!

You may stop, wait, and read the ABIDE – Good Night, until one (1) hour before you go to bed to have a restful and peaceful sleep.

“Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are. During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold. “Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do.”

John 17:11‭-‬16 NLT

Our Lord Jesus Christ would be departing the world to rejoin the Father; the disciples would stay behind to carry out God’s plan by spreading the good news of salvation. Such a mission would arouse great hostility from the evil one, so the disciples needed special protection. Lord Jesus Christ asked that the Holy Father would keep them and care for them. The prayer itself indicates confidence in God’s ability to “keep” His children, while at the same time allowing the disciples to hear our Lord Jesus’ desire for how they are to be kept. Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed that they would be united just as he and the Father are united. They should have a unified desire and purpose to serve and glorify God. Then they would have the strongest of all possible unions.

Our Lord Jesus Christ’s physical presence had provided the obvious point of unity for the disciples. The more they were “in Christ,” the more they were united and protected. Our Lord Jesus Christ had kept them safe as a precious gift given to Him from the Father; here He gave an account of the job he had done. All of the disciples had been guarded-not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold. The one was Judas Iscariot who, by his own volition, betrayed our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, Lord Jesus sadly identified Judas as one who had rejected the protection offered.

The place of Judas among the disciples and his choice to betray our Lord Jesus Christ highlight the balance that we find throughout the Bible between the awesome sovereignty of God and the freedom He allows people to exercise. We would tip the balance toward error if we would say that Lord Jesus intentionally withheld His protection of Judas to expose him to the temptation of Satan so that the betrayal could happen. We would also be in error if we would say that the temptation of Satan was stronger than our Lord Jesus Christ’s ability to protect Judas. Judas was not a puppet on a string. Judas shared the protection offered by the presence of Lord Jesus all during their time together. Judas made his decision to betray our Lord Jesus Christ, and by so doing he removed himself from Christ’s protection. He passed the point of no return and thereby fulfilled the scriptural prediction.

The extent of God’s protection over us every single day is beyond our comprehension. His sovereignty is complete, including His choice to allow us to actually be able to effectively reject Him. God could have created persons whose choices didn’t really matter. Instead, because of His love for us, He created us with enough freedom to live in relationship with Him.

John 17:13 described that our Lord Jesus Christ had told His disciples many things about His coming death-hardly a joyful topic. But after these events would take place-especially after the Resurrection-the disciples would be filled with joy, for they would then understand that our Lord Jesus Christ had conquered death and Satan and had brought eternal life to all who believe in Him. Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!

John 17:14 described that the world hates Christians because Christians’ values differ from the world’s, and because Christians expose the world’s values for what they are-absolutely worthless. Because Lord Jesus Christ’s followers don’t cooperate with the world by joining in their sin, they are living accusations against the world’s immorality. The world follows Satan’s agenda, and Satan is the avowed enemy of Lord Jesus Christ and His people (see John 15:18; John16:2).

John 17:15-16 described that our Lord Jesus Christ did not pray that God would take them out of the world to protect them from the hatred and persecution to come, rather that they would be kept safe from the evil one-that through difficult circumstances they would not fall prey to the devil. The only way believers can be witnesses to the world is to be witnessing for our Lord Jesus Christ in the world. We must carry our message, trusting God for His protection. Our Lord Jesus Christ was not a part of the world’s system, headed by Satan (indeed, He had been tempted to that end and had refused—see Matthew 4:1-11). Neither are believers a part of the world because they have been born again (John 3:3). Amen!

Being Born-Again Christian Believer

Please continue to scroll down if you have not experience of being Born-Again in Spirit as our Lord Jesus Christ said in these passages of John 3:3-8 NLT, and I quoted below;

3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” 4 “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” 5 Jesus replied, “I assure you; no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”

Let’s meditate and look for the life application of these passages.

What did Nicodemus know about the Kingdom? From the Bible he knew it would be ruled by God, it would be restored on earth, and it would incorporate God’s people. Our Lord Jesus Christ revealed to this devout Pharisee that the Kingdom would come to the whole world (John 3:16, see The Gospel – The Good News), not just the Jews, and that Nicodemus wouldn’t be a part of it unless he was personally born again (John 3:5). This was a revolutionary concept: The Kingdom is personal, not national or ethnic, and its entrance requirements are repentance and spiritual rebirth. Our Lord Jesus Christ later taught that God’s Kingdom has already begun in the hearts of believers (Luke 17:21). It will be fully realized when our Lord Jesus Christ returns again to judge the world and abolish evil forever (Revelation 21–22).

The Words > “Of water and the Spirit” could refer to (1) the contrast between physical birth (water) and spiritual birth (Spirit), or (2) being regenerated by the Holy Spirit and signifying that rebirth by Christian baptism. The water may also represent the cleansing action of God’s Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). Nicodemus undoubtedly would have been familiar with God’s promise in Ezekiel 36:25, 26. Our Lord Jesus Christ was explaining the importance of a spiritual rebirth, saying that people don’t enter the Kingdom by living a better life, but by being spiritually reborn.

Who is the Holy Spirit? God is three persons in one – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God became a man in Jesus Christ so that Jesus Christ could die for our sins. Our Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead to offer salvation to all people through spiritual renewal and rebirth. When our Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, His physical presence left the earth, but He promised to send the Holy Spirit so that His spiritual presence would still be among humankind (see Luke 24:49). The Holy Spirit first became available to all believers at Pentecost (Acts 2). Whereas in Old Testament days the Holy Spirit empowered specific individuals for specific purposes, now all believers have the power of the Holy Spirit available to them. For more on the Holy Spirit, read John 14:16-28; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; and 2 Corinthians 1:22.

Our Lord Jesus Christ explained that we cannot control the work of the Holy Spirit. He works in ways we cannot predict or understand. Just as you did not control your physical birth, so you cannot control your spiritual birth. It is a gift from God through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:16; 1 Corinthians 2:10-12; 1 Thessalonians 1:5, 6).

The Gospel – The Good News

In John 3:16-17 NLT says, “16 “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.”

The message of The Good News – The Gospel comes to a focus in these verses. God’s love is not static or self-centered; it reaches out and draws others in. Here God sets the pattern of true love, the basis for all love relationships – when we love someone dearly, we are willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrifice. God paid dearly with the life of His Son, the highest price He could pay. Our Lord Jesus Christ accepted our punishment, paid the price for our sins, and then offered us the new life that He had bought for us. When we share the Good News with others, our love must be like our Lord Jesus Christ’s – willingly giving up our own comfort and security so that others might join us in receiving God’s unconditional love.

In John 14:6-7 NLT says, “6 Jesus told him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had really known Me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him!”

This is one of the most basic and important passages in Scripture. How can we know the way to God? Only through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Way because He is both God and man. By uniting our lives with His, we are united with God. Trust our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit to take you to our Father God, and all the benefits of being God’s child will be yours.
